Yaxchilan Field Research

We have been working at the site of Yaxchilan, Chiapas, Mexico since Ian Graham began documentation at the site in the 1970s, and published Vols. 3.1-3.2 on the lintels and hieroglyphic steps. In 2007, we initiated the 3D scanning project at Yaxchilan to test the equipment's hardiness to field conditions. From 2017–2019 field excursions completed the documentation of the stelae, which are forthcoming in the next volume, in 2022.

We are delighted to announce a new collaboration between Dumbarton Oaks Publications and the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography that will continue to bring the wealth of data and documentation on Maya monuments and sites to the public through detailed folios. The upcoming fascicle on Yaxchilan will mark the start of this new co-publishing collaboration.
