Since the 1970s, the CMHI has published monuments and inscriptions from 20 different Maya sites. An introduction to the series was published in 1975, outlining the scope and design of the publications, and a guide to the abbreviations for monument types and measurements was provided in Volume 2, Part 1 (1975, page 2:9).
